EASYJoint PORCELAIN Patio Jointing Compound is a major breakthrough in patio jointing technology.

This state-of-the-art formula is completely new and unlike anything else in the UK.

This dry-application product is activated with a small amount of water which cures to form a strong, non-permeable joint with unrivalled adhesion to porcelain paving.

Installation Guide

It is important to lightly compact the compound in the joint.

This can be done manually, with a suitable jointing tool, or you can use a handheld vibrating tile beater. DO NOT OVER COMPACT!

It will be necessary to add more compound during this process to achieve the desired level which is just below the paving surface.

PRE-INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT! PAVING SURFACES AND JOINTS MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY

To ensure good cohesion and long-term resistance, the compound must dry completely after application before being exposed to rain (24 to 48 hours minimum). The drying time will be extended in cold weather.

Must be applied dry and kept completely dry after application.

EASYJoint PORCELAIN - Pour

Step 1. Pour

Pour the product over a small, manageable area

EASYJoint PORCELAIN - Sweep

Step 2. Sweep

Sweep the product into the joints until full

EASYJoint PORCELAIN - Point

Step 3. Point

For the best results, vibrate the joints using a hand vibration tile beater, alternatively, you could use a pointing tool.

EASYJoint PORCELAIN - Top up

Step 4. Top up

Top up joints and repeat compaction until finish is just below the paving surface

Step 5. Remove excess

Use a soft broom to remove excess compound

EASYJoint PORCELAIN - Remove remaining product

Step 6. Remove remaining product

Use a leaf blower to remove any remaining fine product. This will also help to level the joint surface.

EASYJoint PORCELAIN - Water

Step 7. Water

Precisely water the joints using the sprayer for 15-20 seconds. Stop when water does not absorb.

Do not overwater. If the joint starts to "foam", this is binding agent being washed out, do not add any more water. Over watering will compromise joint integrity and lead to failures

Step 8. Dry

Leave joints to dry. The area must NOT be subject to further watering for at least 24 hours

SITE CONDITIONS & IMPORTANT INFORMATION -The porcelain paving must be secure and bonded to the bedding mortar/course. We recommend using Azpects EASYPrime as part of the paving installation. The bedding mortar/course needs to be free draining to allow the activation water to drain. The joint, when set, is non-permeable. (We recommend a 6:1 mortar using sharp sand and ordinary Portland cement).

WEATHER CONDITIONS - Air and paving surface temperatures must be above 10ºC (50ºF). To ensure good cohesion and long-term resistance, the jointing sand must dry completely before being exposed to rain (24 to 48 hours minimum). The drying time will be extended in cold or humid weather.

JOINT DIMENSIONS - Width: minimum 3mm up to 13mm maximum. Depth: minimum 19mm.

Compaction is ESSENTIAL when using EASYJoint PORCELAIN Jointing compound.

If vibration compaction is not available, hand tamping using a rubber mallet or similar may be used. If doing so extra care and time must be taken to ensure joints are filled. Failure to do so will result in failed joint integrity and performance. Alternatively, strike the joint and repeat this process to achieve the desired level and compaction. Over-compaction can reduce water absorption and may result in inactivated compound. Failure to have a recessed joint could lead to premature joint degradation.

The application water must be able to drain through to the sub-base. In areas where water cannot drain freely, excessive moisture will build up, negatively impacting the products performance.

Do not mix this product with cement, sand or other materials.

Not for use in areas which are constantly wet.

Do not sweep over asphalt/tarmac.

If using on natural stone, it is essential that the surface is completely dry before applying EASYJoint PORCELAIN. Failure to do so may cause staining that will be difficult to remove or may require cleaning products that can potentially damage the stone's surface.

Wait seven days after installation and ensure the joint has hardened before cleaning and sealing the surface.

Avoid using high-pressure cleaners during the first 30 days.

FAQs

No, it is an alternative method

Yes, you can. Although EASYJoint PORCELAIN has been designed to perform best with porcelain paving, its unique formula allows it to be suitable for all types of paving.

Multiple factors, such as patio construction and site conditions, must be considered when choosing a jointing compound; some more things to consider but not limited to are:

  • Is a permeable joint required or not
  • What finish is required
  • Price and time
  • Joint strength

No, providing all the excess is removed before activation.

Every effort should be made to clear off excess before watering; if you’re caught short, Azpects Mortar Stain Remover will help to lift it with some scrubbing.

Yes, we recommend leaving the joints for 30 days before pressure washing or adding any cleaning chemicals or sealers.

Yes, EASYJoint PORCELAIN bonds to itself when curing, unlike Original or Select EASYJoint. Cut a section out for the best results, apply fresh material, and water the joint.

Yes, but it is not ant or weed-proof! See above if you need to repair a joint.

Yes, as the joint level is below the face of the paver, it is not load-bearing. Be conscious of over-watering when applying, as driveways tend not to be free-draining.
