Azpects aids home makeover for aneurysm survivor

Azpects Contribute to Life-Changing Home Renovation for Young Man with Brain Aneurysm

Azpects Ltd, an industry-leading hard landscaping product developer and manufacturer, is proud to have contributed to a vital home renovation project for 21-year-old Luke Goold-Hannatt. Three years after suffering a catastrophic brain aneurysm, Luke will be able to return home, thanks to the efforts of the Band of Builders charity and the generous involvement of Azpects and other supporters.

Luke was only 17 when he suffered an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in 2020. Since then, he has required round-the-clock care at a specialist neurological care centre. His parents, David and Karen, have long dreamed of bringing him home and began fundraising to make necessary modifications to their house. When Band of Builders heard about Luke's situation, they stepped in to support, rallying tradespeople from across the UK to extend the family home, including a ground-floor bedroom and wet room for Luke, and a bedroom for a specialist live-in carer.

In line with their ongoing commitment to charitable causes, Azpects not only joined the project by donating their renowned EASYJoint, jointing compound for porcelain and natural stone, crucial in the finishing process, but also pledged to contribute ongoing monthly donations to Band of Builders. The Azpects team felt compelled to offer sustained support, recognising the need and the exceptional circumstances of Luke's story. These regular donations will help fund future projects and continue making a significant difference in the lives of those in need within the construction community.

"We are honoured to contribute our products and efforts towards such a worthwhile cause," said Georgina, Head of Marketing at Azpects. "Being part of the journey that reunites Luke with his family at home is truly a privilege."

In appreciation of the hardworking volunteers and in anticipation of Luke's return home, Azpects also hosted a celebratory barbecue event for the entire project team. The event, filled with warmth and camaraderie, highlighted the shared purpose and collective effort of the wider community and was a testament to the company's dedication to supporting the people and causes close to its heart.

Tony Steel, Operations Director for Band of Builders, said “Our corporate sponsors have been amazing in supporting Luke’s project by generously donating time and materials – which we simply couldn’t have done without,” he said. “We are also grateful that the local community came out in force to support the project to get Luke home, and the generosity of all those businesses that supplied food to keep our volunteers fed was incredible.”

With the project now completed, the community shares in the joy and anticipation as Luke prepares to finally return home. This significant milestone made possible thanks to the collective efforts of all the volunteers, and the unwavering commitment of the wider community, marks the beginning of a new chapter for Luke and his family.

In further showcasing their commitment to giving back to the community, Azpects is also a dedicated supporter the charity EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices). Every month, Azpects proudly contributes to this cause, helping to ensure that the hospices can continue to offer care and support to children and young people with life-threatening conditions, as well as their families.
