What are those white marks on my brickwork and how do I remove them?

Unattractive white marks on brickwork, paving, masonry etc are an age old problem in the construction industry but there are two simple ways to help remove it.

The two most common white deposits which appear are salt based (efflorescence) or calcium based (limescale).

An Azpects top tip is to add a small splash of water to the area concerned. If the white area begins to dissolve then you have salt based efflorescence, if there is no effect then you have limescale.

For Salt Removal

EASY Efflorescence Remover+ is a non-acidic solution designed to not only remove salt based efflorescence but neutralise the salts within the substrates themselves. This helps to reduce the likelihood of more salts leaching from the substrates in the future.

For Calcium Removal

EASY Mortar Stain & Calcium Remover is primarily designed to clean up mortar stains on paving, brickwork and tools among other things and because mortar contains cement, it contains calcium which Mortar Stain & Calcium Remover is designed to attack. As a consequence of that, it is equally adept at cleaning limescale off walls as the picture below shows.
