What is the difference between Cement and Concrete?

Cement & Concrete are not the same and are often confused

Cement and Concrete are often believed be to one and the same, it is easy to confuse the two, however they are distinctly different products.

Cement is used within the construction industry, in its own right, but Concrete cannot be made without Cement.

The primary difference between concrete and cement is that concrete is a composite material made of water, aggregate (crushed stone, rock, and sand), and cement.

Cement is a very fine powder, mainly made of limestone, silica and other minerals, which absorbs water and then acts as a binder for materials such as mortar and concrete.

Bedding Mix

Concrete is used for a bedding mix when jointing with EASYJoint: When working with EASYjoint it is essential that the paving, to be jointed, is laid on a permeable bedding mix, at a ratio of 6:1 (six parts sand to one part cement) or weaker.

It is important to know that EASYJoint cures on contact with air (not water), this is why the bedding mix must be permeable, as it will allow excess water to drain away from the EASYJoint, through the base and away.

Please note: EASYJoint does not contain cement.
